At City Council this Wednesday, under consent, Council unanimously approved the lifting of the “H” (holding zone) as it pertains to the rezoning of Laurentian Place. This was the final administrative step prior to finalizing the Site Plan. Again, barring any unforeseen issues, Phase 1 construction is set to begin in the next 2 weeks.

In response to an inquiry about the City of Ottawa’s Noise By-law regarding construction, construction is permitted from Monday to Saturday from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. On Sunday and any statutory or public holiday, construction activities cannot start before 9:00 a.m. and must conclude by 10:00 p.m. This by-law applies to all construction.

Once construction commences, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to directly contact Aaron Clodd, SmartCentres, at 613-721-2200, ext. 230 or by e-mail at aclodd@smartcentres.com. SmartCentres will regularly update Maria’s office regarding any concerns that are raised. Mr. Clodd will respond to construction related-issues only and is not in a position to comment on tenancy agreements, future development, etc.
